Results During January 1–December 31, 2023, a total of 119,605 HRI ED visits were recorded in the ESSENCE system***; 92% of these visits occurred during May–September. Across the study period, July and August accounted for a higher average HRI ED visit rate (303 per 100,000 ED visits) compared with other warm-season months (May, June, and September) (97) (Table 1).
