Heavy rain brings flooding to parts of Texoma

(KTEN) — Heavy rain led to flash flooding across parts of southern Oklahoma on Tuesday. The National Weather Service in Norman issued a Flash Flood Emergency alert for Atoka County at noon, its first such warning since 2019. Multiple water rescues were reported near Bentley, Oklahoma. The Caney Volunteer Fire Department reported that all four lanes US 69/75 between Caney and Tushka are completely under water at Lain Lake Road. Flash floods were also reported in parts of McCurtain County.

McCURTAIN COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) — Heavy rain led to flash flooding in parts of McCurtain County on Tuesday morning. As of mid-morning, 7.2 inches of rainfall was reported in Idabel. “We even had downtown streets in Idabel closed because the water was so high,” McCurtain County Emergency Manager Jerry Falling told KTEN.
