171 The 10th Mountain Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team is taking up positions in eastern Afghanistan that until now have had little coalition presence. The BCT, known as ‘Task Force Spartan,’ and based at Fort Drum, N.Y., was rerouted from Iraq to Afghanistan in the fall.
Why ‘And Just Like That’ fails older women
Posted on 1 February, 2022 If you’re after escapist TV this summer you won’t find it in the Sex and the City reboot …And Just Like That. Each week I tune in hoping for a glamourous date with Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte but leave deflated and increasingly cross. I can’t help but wonder…have they changed, or have I? The miserable trio on my television have very little in common with the exuberant older women I know in my own life.

2020: A look back at the year through social media
While most will be happy to see the back of what’s been an extremely challenging year, it’s also fair to say 2020 changed how we interact with the world. Here are the trends that shaped 2020 in social media. Online, all the timeMarooned at home, we turned to online networks for information, comfort and distraction. Some in-house comms staff became “accidental community managers” as workplace community tools like Slack, Yammer and Facebook Workplace became integral to work.
2020: the year in social
We’re now counting down the final days of 2020. While most will be happy to see the back of what’s been an extremely challenging year, it’s also fair to say that it’s changed how we interact with the world. Here are the trends that shaped 2020 in social media. Online, all the time Marooned at home, we turned to online networks for information, comfort and distraction.
State Officials Designate Southwest Indiana as state’s ninth 21st Century Talent Region
Indiana Secretary of Career Connections and Talent Blair Milo joined state and local officials today to announce the Southwest Indiana Region as Indiana’s ninth 21st Century Talent Region, a statewide designation awarded to Indiana communities focused on working collaboratively to attract, develop and connect talent.
It's time to commit to remote working
It’s been six months since many of us have been to the office. What started as a crisis response to a pandemic has segued into A New Normal – and we don’t know when things are likely to change. A recent survey on LinkedIn from Digivizer CEO Emma Lo Russo found that 63% of respondents were still working from home. Facebook, Uber and Google aren’t planning on sending staff back to the office until mid-2021. Most organisations have pivoted remarkably well to remote working.
Moderating social channels during COVID-19 presents brands with new and different challenges
Last week, a rumour that Oprah Winfrey had been arrested on child pornography charges swept across the globe. It was, of course, false, but it showed just how quickly misinformation can get out of hand when people are more panicked than usual and spending more time online.
We need to better support women facing online hate just for doing their jobs
As we celebrate female achievement this International Women’s Day, it’s important to remember that when women step up, there is often a price to pay. A landmark study by Amnesty International used machine-learning software to analyse tweets sent to a sample of 778 women politicians and journalists. It found that 7.1%, or 1.1m, of those tweets were either “problematic” or “abusive,” which Amnesty International said amounts to one abusive tweet sent every 30 seconds.
Amber Robinson: It’s time we started building healthier workplaces
August 29 2019, 9:44 am | BY Ricki Green | By Amber Robinson, social media strategist, Quiip Working in advertising definitely has its perks. You’re usually working with creative, smart and funny people, in a decent office space in a nice location. The work is challenging and varied and you’re usually pretty well paid. But dig a little deeper and the industry has a dark side, with more than half of surveyed adland workers showing mild to severe signs of depression and/or anxiety.
Talking about the industry's mental health is no longer enough, it's time to take responsibility
I have fond memories of working for large advertising companies in my 20s – brilliant colleagues, exciting clients, insane parties. We did amazing work and I learned so much. But I also can’t reflect on that period without thinking about what made me leave: my first anxiety attack after a particularly hideous client WIP in which the senior account manager bailed, I was left to run the meeting as a junior, and I was thrown under the bus by a media agency also involved.
It's time to stop undervaluing social media managers
Now hiring: Writer, social strategist, graphic designer, campaign manager, project manager, community manager, SEO expert and data analyst. Ideally, we’d also like a web developer. Here’s the catch: It’s all one job. And we want someone with only one to two years’ industry experience, so we don’t have to pay you much. It might sound absurd, but recently I saw a job advertisement, with a similar job description, from a large Australian company seeking a social media manager.
Banning anonymous comments won't make the internet better
Last week, WPP boss John Steedman called for an end to anonymous online comments. And a ruling in the Dylan Voller case set a precedent that publishers will be responsible for comments left on third-party platforms like Facebook. This is a problem. Publishers – and their followers – generate a relentless tide of Facebook comments, and have access to minimal moderation options. One broadcaster we work with receives more than 138,000 comments each week on just one of its pages.
Media outlets found liable for readers' Facebook comments in first round of landmark Dylan Voller defamation case
Dylan Voller, a former Don Dale youth detainee, has won the first round of a landmark defamation case against The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, Sky News, The Centralian Advocate, and The Bolt Report. The question asked in today’s hearing was whether these outlets legally ‘published’ allegedly defamatory comments made on their public Facebook pages.
88 - Radio Culture - Gay Lesbian Bi Trans News Archive - Windy City Times
TUTA Theatre has concocted one of the most tightly packed, powerful theater experiences from source material that should be the opposite. Radio Culture, by Maxim Dosko ( translated by Natalia Fedorova and Amber Robinson ), stems from the eastern European "New Drama" movement, hyper-focused on the normalcy we all exhibit. Director Amber Robinson has wisely avoided embellishments with the understanding that a page from this central character's life will be more than enough.
Beautiful Couple's Wedding Anniversary Pictures, Taken By Their Photographer Daughter
"In this wonderful creative industry that I worked in, I focus so much on providing couple hours with a day of beautiful photography," Robinson continued. "To be honest, rarely do I stop to think about the day, weeks, months or years that follow a wedding day." That's why this photography session was so important to her — not just because it showed her parents, but everything they went through together. "So today I share with you what those years after can look like when true love exists.
Hope for Your Wounded Past
As children, we don’t always have the perspective that enables us to understand that adult screaming, raging, ignoring, and abusing are abnormal. But, if we have this kind of rage or abuse in our past, there comes a time in our adult lives when we need to acknowledge where we’ve come from—an awakening of sorts. An awareness that leads to growth. Acknowledge My friend Annie was in her 30s when she began to struggle with an eating disorder.
