ROOSEVELT — A 14-year-old girl from Cache Valley is safe after getting lost in the Uinta Mountains in eastern Utah. Maya Suisse told KSL TV in a one-on-one interview Friday that she went to the bathroom the day before while with her family, in the Painters Basin area near Kidney Lakes, but she got lost on the way back. Beulah Fire grows to 1,400 acres

KAMAS — A fire that prompted the evacuation of campers in the High Uintas wilderness on Thursday continues to grow, while crews battling the state’s largest fire say they’re bracing for potential impacts tied to shifting winds in Utah’s forecast. The Beulah Fire has now burned approximately 1,400 acres of land within Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, as of midday Friday, said U.S. Forest Service spokesman Toby Weed.

I-15 reopens in Sandy after road damage causes traffic to stop

SANDY — Traffic was stopped Friday morning on northbound Interstate 15 in Sandy between 11400 South and 9000 South. At one point, the Utah Department of Transportation cameras showed vehicles at a complete stop, with people seen exiting their cars. According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Takesha Durrant, road damage caused the standstill. Maintenance NB I-15 at MP 294 (9600 S/Sandy) Salt Lake Co 3 Left Lanes Closed.
