I Spent $44,000 Launching My Book. Three of Those Dollars Worked.
Today I got the conversion report from the $10,000 TikTok influencer campaign I ran for the launch of UNSINGLE. Guess how many books it sold? Three book sales. Not three thousand. Three. That’s $3,333 per book, which makes each copy roughly the price of a used 2006 Honda Civic, except the Civic would have been more useful.

VanDersarl Blériot
Fabricated by teenage brothers in 1911, this unique homebuilt is once again airworthy. Despite its shortcomings, the Blériot XI was one of the great designs of aviation’s early years. The successful fruit of numerous prior attempts—and failures—by French pioneer aviator Louis Blériot, it was tricky and even dangerous to fly, largely because its horizontal stabilizer had an airfoil like the wing, which could cause the nose to suddenly pitch down during high-speed dives.

Why People Pleasers Attract Narcissistic Partners
You know the drill by now—fight, flight, or freeze. These are the holy trinity of threat responses we’ve been taught to recognize. But what if I told you there’s a fourth response that’s been hiding in plain sight, one that might explain why you find yourself saying “yes” when every fiber of your being wants to scream “no”? Meet the fawn response: the art of becoming irresistibly appealing to whatever threatens us.
Vibrio pectenicida strain FHCF-3 is a causative agent of sea star wasting disease - Nature Ecology & Evolution
Abstract More than 10 years following the onset of the sea star wasting disease (SSWD) epidemic, affecting over 20 asteroid species from Mexico to Alaska, the causative agent has been elusive. SSWD killed billions of the most susceptible species, sunflower sea stars (Pycnopodia helianthoides), initiating a trophic cascade involving unchecked urchin population growth and the widespread loss of kelp forests. Identifying the causative agent underpins the development of recovery strategies.

Opinion | Trump Tariffs Are a Victory Against Climate Change
By making consumption more expensive, they may do more for the planet than 1,000 ESG plans. I recently attended a closed-door session with senior supply-chain and sustainability executives. The mood was visibly tense. Conversations quickly turned to rising tariffs, deglobalization and mounting geopolitical risk. But something surprising emerged from the anxiety: the possibility that President Trump’s trade war might accelerate environmental progress. That may sound counterintuitive.

How to Stick with the No-Contact Rule (& Why It Can Help)
1 Continue to maintain a structure in your life. Stay busy so you don’t wallow and give into the urge to reach out. Keeping a daily schedule that includes sleep, meals, goals, and activities can prevent you from obsessing over your ex. Eat healthy, get exercise, and spend valuable time with friends and those who support you.[15] 2 Pick one good friend to hold yourself accountable to. They may be going through something similar themselves or just want to help.
What to Do After a Breakup
1 Let yourself feel your emotions, but don’t wallow in them. It’s normal to feel sad after a relationship. Let yourself do whatever you need to do to get your emotions out, whether that’s crying, screaming into a pillow, or journaling to feel better. But, avoid sitting with your emotions for too long. When you start to notice yourself wallowing in bed for days or weeks after the breakup, make an effort to get up and do something to fill your time.[1] 2 Focus on your health and well-being.
A few months ago, I found myself sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, running late to meet my friend, “Sarah” for dinner. As I inched along the highway toward her neighbourhood (45 minutes from mine), a familiar pattern started to crystallize. Every dinner with Sarah followed the same script: I’d suggest getting together, she’d pick a restaurant near her place, and I’d battle cross-town traffic to meet her there.

Love is Not Enough: When You’re the Only One Fighting for Your Relationship Original
We’ve all heard the saying, “All you need is love.” But in my years of relationship coaching, I’ve learned an important truth: love alone isn’t enough to sustain a long-term, committed relationship. To build and maintain a healthy partnership, we need more than just feelings of love. We need skills. Here are some crucial ones: Emotional Regulation: The ability to manage your emotions during stressful times.
Dating in Vancouver: How to not give up on finding someone
Dear Amy, I’m 39 years old, with a good career and a great group of friends. While my life feels full in many ways, I can’t shake the feeling that something is missing—a partner to share it with. A part of me feels ashamed to admit this because I know I should be grateful for the life I already have. I’ve done “the work”—I go to therapy, I’ve read countless self-help books, and I make a conscious effort to meet new people and try new things.
Sex differences in nucleus accumbens core circuitry engaged by binge-like ethanol drinking
Abstract Growing parity in Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) diagnoses in men and women necessitates consideration of sex as a biological variable. In humans and rodents, the nucleus accumbens core (NAcc) regulates alcohol binge drinking, a risk factor for developing AUD. We labeled NAcc inputs with a viral retrograde tracer and quantified whole-brain c-Fos to determine the regions and NAcc inputs differentially engaged in male and female mice during binge-like ethanol drinking.

Dating in Vancouver: Stop blaming the city for your dating woes
Some of the common complaints people have about dating in Vancouver are that it’s hard to meet singles, and that people are snobby—and sometimes downright rude. While I understand that modern dating may seem more complex compared to the good ol’ days, it makes me wonder: is the city entirely to blame? Or could it be that our social and relational skills are declining? I’ve had only a handful of serious relationships in my life, and between each, I experienced years of being single.
Dating in Vancouver: How to spot a scammer
I was having drinks with my girlfriends at a bar in Gastown. None of them knew that I was only pretending to have a good time. A guy I was excited about told me he didn’t want to continue seeing me, so there I was, decked out in a white dress, drinking shots in an attempt to drown my feelings of rejection and loneliness. I went to the bar to get the next round of drinks. As I was waiting to get the bartender’s attention, a handsome guy with dirty blond hair stepped up right beside me.
