What was your first job as a journalist?

Outside the university newspaper, my first job was in the tribal community of Cass Lake, Minnesota, as an editorial and photography intern.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Providing people with information and perspectives from their community and the world which they might not have encountered otherwise.

Why did you become a journalist?

Initially because I was an innately curious but reserved person, and doing structured interviews gave me a sense of ease around new people.
