ASDA pharmacy has had more than 7,000 orders for the new Wegovy pill - just hours after it was launched. Faye Breckons, director for healthcare at the supermarket giant, said they have been inundated with more than 13,000 enquires about the weight-loss tablet in two weeks. The semaglutide tablets, produced by Danish healthcare company Novo Nordisk, became the first GLP-1 pill for weight loss to be approved by the UK's medicines regulator last month.

Staffordshire couple surviving on £1,300 a month after husband's freak work accident

A Staffordshire man was left with permanent brain damage after a giant metal bar smashed onto his head while at work - leaving him and his wife surviving on just £1,300 a month. Electrician Mark Ludlow, 63, was assisting a colleague on a broken lift at a factory, when a giant metal rod dropped from the shaft and struck his face from above. Mark was knocked unconscious and his entire face was smashed, and he was put into a coma for his own survival.
