NEW ULM -- A new exhibit highlighting the 125th anniversary of Hanska celebrated its official grand opening on Saturday on the second floor of the Brown County Historical Society. Titled “125 Years of Heritage: Hanska’s Quasquicentennial Celebration,” the exhibit features historic artifacts, photographs, and traditional Scandinavian items from the Hanska community's past.

NEW ULM -- Clear skies and classic country sounds brought crowds together at Shirley's Park and Country Retreat on Saturday as campers, local residents, and music fans gathered for the campground's annual Labor Day weekend concert. The free outdoor event offered a well-rounded slate of regional talent, featuring acoustic story-driven country during the afternoon and a full-band rock-and-country set in the evening, alongside local food truck vendors and lakeside recreation.

NEW ULM -- A mammoth molar recovered west of New Ulm in 1929 has been located in a paleontological collection transferred from the Bell Museum of Natural History to the Science Museum of Minnesota. The discovery closes a nearly eight-decade gap in the specimen's documented history after a seven-year search by independent researcher Marcus Brandel of New Ulm. Local historian and preservationist August Hummel (1870-1967) found the specimen in an old river channel west of New Ulm in 1929.
