Acoustic topological Jackiw–Rebbi states at symmetry broken interfaces
Abstract Topological insulators, a fundamental concept in modern condensed matter physics, support localized states at the interfaces between insulators exhibiting different topological phases, which conventionally rely on explicit symmetry breaking. Here, we propose a mechanism to induce a real-space topological phase transition by spontaneous symmetry breaking, thereby establishing a weakly-coupled non-Hermitian double-well potential to generate a nontrivial Jackiw-Rebbi state.
Tontine meets Tobin: a portfolio-theoretic view of retirement income design
?Mathematical formulae have been encoded as MathML and are displayed in this HTML version using MathJax in order to improve their display. Uncheck the box to turn MathJax off. This feature requires Javascript. Click on a formula to zoom. Abstract This paper investigates whether annuities and tontines can be combined in a retirement portfolio. It borrows from Tobin's two-fund separation and uses the mean-variance efficient frontier as a framework.

Molecular HDD logic for encrypted massive data storage - Nature Communications
Abstract Organic memories, with small dimension, fast speed and long retention features, are considered as promising candidates for massive data archiving. In order to satisfy the requirements for ultra-low power and high-security information storage, we design a conceptual molecular hard-disk (HDD) logic scheme that is capable to execute in-situ encryption of massive data in pW/bit power-consumption range.

Data-driven exploration of weak coordination microenvironment in solid-state electrolyte for safe and energy-dense batteries - Nature Communications
Abstract The unsatisfactory ionic conductivity of solid polymer electrolytes hinders their practical use as substitutes for liquid electrolytes to address safety concerns. Although various plasticizers have been introduced to improve lithium-ion conduction kinetics, the lack of microenvironment understanding impedes the rational design of high-performance polymer electrolytes.

Motion Characteristics and Distribution Laws of Particles in the Launching System with a Sequence-Change Structure
1. Introduction The issue of unsteady gas–solid flow is a widespread challenge in the launching system, involving the intricate interaction between gas and particles. This includes factors such as the gas turbulence effect, the multidirectional movement of particles, the gas–solid interphase interaction, and the particle–particle collision. When the modular charge technology is adopted, the process is in a sequence-change space within a short period of time.

How does the insurer's mobile application sales strategy perform?
Abstract While the impact of an Internet-based sales strategy on sales performance has been well studied, there is little academic research that examines the impact of a mobile application (MA) sales strategy on the sales performance of insurers. Using a unique data set for term life insurance policies from a Chinese life insurer, we study the impact of implementing this strategy on insurance purchases.

An effective method to screen sodium-based layered materials for sodium ion batteries
Our screening approach for Na-based layered materials is shown in Fig. 1. After the materials screening, over 150 kinds of Na-based layered materials were obtained. The obtained Na-based layered materials contain 38 kinds of space group, as shown in Fig. 2, which belongs to six kinds of crystal systems except the cubic. The results indicate that the accuracy of our screening approach would not be affected by the space group of candidate materials.
