1 hurt after shooting in University City area

One person is hurt after a shooting in a University City neighborhood overnight Thursday, Medic said. The shooting happened along Vinca Circle, just off Old Concord Road, early Thursday morning. Medic confirmed one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No word on what led up to the shooting at this time. WCNC Charlotte is asking the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for more details. The incident is one of two shootings that happened in Charlotte overnight.

Charlotte Amtrak train strikes truck in Durham, injures driver and delays service two hours

DURHAM, N.C. — An Amtrak passenger train collided with a truck in Durham Tuesday morning, injuring the truck driver and delaying service for two hours. The Carolinian train, which departed Charlotte at 6:45 a.m. bound for New York City, hit the truck around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Grant Street and East Pettigrew Street in Durham, according to Durham Fire Department. The truck driver was transported to a hospital in stable condition. No injuries to train passengers or crew were reported.

2 killed in Conover crash, police say Original

CONOVER, N.C. — Two people from Conover died in a crash Monday afternoon when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole and bridge pillar on Conover Boulevard West. Conover Police responded to the crash around 2:20 p.m. in the along Conover Boulevard West. Nathan Lehman, 76, was driving a 2013 Hyundai eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway, according to police. Both Nathan Lehman and passenger Harriet Lehman, 73, died at the scene from their injuries.
