Basic NBA Data Parsing with Python
About eight weeks ago I saw John Capobianco and Tim Bert were holding an online meeting about trying to pull down some NCAA football data using an API. I, myself, finally finished up the last certification exam I’ve had on my plate shortly thereafter. Since then, I’ve taken to doing a little bit of DataCamp and CloudAcademy each day. DataCamp has a python track that teaches you the basics of python while adding in some packages a data scientist may use along the way, specifically, numpy and pandas.
Salamone Wants to Help Fix Stuff: Income Inequality
While every Trump supporter hides their support of racism behind the myth of a booming economy, it’s important to remember that at record rates, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Sure, billionaire wealth-hoarders get to hoard more wealth, but the average American is much worse off than ever before in our nation’s history. The Federal poverty threshold in 2017 was $24,858 for a family of four.

Progressives File Lawsuits Against California Democratic Party Over Endorsement Process
California has emerged as a battleground between progressives and the Democratic Party establishment given the stronghold Democrats tend to have there in state and federal races. Progressives have clashed with the Democratic Party establishment during its closely contested race for State Party Chair in May 2017, called for primary challenges against several Democrats in office, and are aggressively pushing California Democrats to rally behind adopting a Medicare for All system in the state.

How a Community Land Trust Helped Me and My Family by @SubvertingPower
Even though we were not bringing in much money at the time, and are still struggling in that department, I was researching programs for first-time home buyers in Seattle, as well as cooperative living communities. Although I wasn’t making a lot of money and didn’t have much in savings, I was curious to see if we could still pull off homeownership and build equity.

Problematic Liaisons 2: Faux Allies
Our alliances become an issue because of misguided allies and faux allies. No one here at Progressive Army denies the need for allies but everyone who calls themselves an ally isn’t truly an ally or they are not a helpful ally. Misguided allies typically fall into my Toddler Cooking Analogy; They are trying to be helpful but usually, they make a bigger mess to clean up and end up causing you more work in the end.
