(NewsNation) — Higher energy prices tied to the war in Iran have helped push annual inflation above 4% for the first time in more than three years. Consumer prices rose 4.2% in May from a year earlier, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — up from 3.8% in April as annual inflation accelerated for the third straight month. Rising gasoline prices were a major driver, jumping 7% in May from the prior month and about 40% from a year earlier.
