What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked as a sports presenter for my local community radio station, hosting a four hour sports show every Saturday.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes and, like Tom Hanks, I want to collect as many typewriters as I can. There is no feeling that can replicate that of writing on one
How is social media changing news?
Producing detailed long-form journalism seems to take a back seat now, with social media driving click-bait, glossy crap that lacks heart

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Everything. This is the only thing I've ever wanted to do, and I wouldn't swap it for anything

Substack.com and lots of coffee. Simple.

Why did you become a journalist?
I've been writing stories since I could clench a pencil in my grubby little hand. I am in love with the beauty and power of storytelling

I didn't but I did work for my local community radio station, hosting a weekly sports show
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Every one I write for my current website. I can write about whatever I want whenever I want, and that is so freeing

Always approach your work with passion and an unrelenting desire to be the best journalist you can be

Be prepared to work harder than ever before, and never, ever stop being curious. Or passionate

It is all glamor and glory. There is a lot of hustle and a hell of a lot of hours involved.
