FARGO — Microsoft announced plans Monday, July 6, to eliminate 4,800 jobs, representing 2.1% of its workforce. A company spokesperson reached Wednesday declined to say if any Fargo-based employees were affected, stating the company had nothing further to share beyond an official Microsoft blog post. Amy Coleman, executive vice president and chief people officer, wrote the post to explain the "why" behind the cuts. "The 'why' is this: Our business is changing because the world around it is changing.

MOORHEAD — Swing Barrel Brewing co-owner Sean Syverson describes the last few years as "an orange blur." There has been consistent road construction around his business at 814 Center Avenue since it opened in 2020. He says orange cones have almost become part of their identity. This summer the city is reconstructing Center Avenue from Eighth Street to 10th Street. The project will reduce the number of lanes on Center Avenue from five to three.

MOORHEAD — Sifted and Sweet Baking Co is on the verge of closing, and its owner is asking the community for help. In a Facebook post Thursday, July 2, Lindsay Piekutowski said it's "time to be real" with customers. "It's time to be real with you. We are on the verge of closing. Staying open in this space (800 Holiday Drive, Suite 176) doesn't seem fiscally responsible or possible right now.
