An open-label, phase IV randomised controlled trial of two schedules of a four-component meningococcal B vaccine in UK preterm infants
Discussion We found that both 2+1 and 3+1 schedules for 4CMenB were immunogenic in preterm infants, although the GMT against strain NZ98/254 (PorA) at 12 months, and the proportions of infants with postprimary and prebooster SBA titres ≥4 were significantly higher with the 3+1 than 2+1 schedule. The vaccine antigen PorA is the immunodominant component of outer membrane vesicle (OMV) vaccines.

Optimising the timing of whooping cough immunisation in mums (OpTIMUM) through investigating pertussis vaccination in pregnancy: an open-label, equivalence, randomised controlled trial
Summary Background Pertussis vaccination in pregnancy is recommended in many countries to provide protection to young infants. The best timing for this vaccination is uncertain. In the UK, vaccination is recommended between 16 weeks and 32 weeks of gestation. In this trial we aimed to investigate the equivalence of three time periods for pertussis vaccination in pregnancy.

Pertussis
Pertussis is an infectious disease of the respiratory tract caused by the Gram-negative bacterium Bordetella pertussis. Pertussis vaccines have led to a significant reduction in the incidence and severity of pertussis in infants worldwide. Despite this decrease in incidence, pertussis remains one of the principal causes of vaccine-preventable death; the World Health Organization reported an estimated 24.1 million cases and 160,700 paediatric deaths in 2014. Pertussis infection can occur at any age.
Habitat loss accelerates for the endangered woodland caribou in western Canada
Abstract Habitat loss is often the ultimate cause of species endangerment and is also a leading factor inhibiting species recovery. For this reason, species‐at‐risk legislation, policies and plans typically focus on habitat conservation and restoration as mechanisms for recovery. To assess the effectiveness of these instruments in decelerating habitat loss, we evaluated spatiotemporal habitat changes for an iconic endangered species, woodland caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou).
Do hyperabundant Arctic-nesting geese pose a problem for sympatric species?
Arctic-breeding geese are at record high population levels and are causing significant changes to some of their breeding and staging habitats. These changes could influence sympatric wildlife, but the nature and strength of these effects are unknown. Here, we review the interactions between geese and sympatric species and propose future research that could help to fill important knowledge gaps.
