Inhibiting EZH2 complements steroid effects in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Abstract Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a devastating X-linked disorder caused by dystrophin gene mutations. Despite recent advances in understanding the disease etiology and applying emerging treatment methodologies, glucocorticoid derivatives remain the only general therapeutic option that can slow disease development. However, the precise molecular mechanism of glucocorticoid action remains unclear, and there is still need for additional remedies to complement the treatment.
Impact of Neoadjuvant and Adjuvant Pleural Intensity‐Modulated Radiotherapy in Multimodality Treatment for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma
1 Introduction Radiotherapy is a widely used treatment modality in many malignancies. Irradiation for malignant pleural mesothelioma has been mainly used as palliative and for local control. Only expert centers with sufficient radiation and surgical experience have utilized novel radiotherapy techniques as an integral part of multimodality treatment protocols.

Biosynthesis of chlorophyll c in a dinoflagellate and heterologous production in planta
Highlights • CHLCS is a multidomain enzyme that produces chlorophyll c in dinoflagellates • 2OG dioxygenase domain is essential for chlorophyll c catalysis • Phylogeny reveals CHLCS evolution patterns in chlorophyll c-containing algae • CHLCS expression in plants results in chlorophyll c1 and c2 accumulation Summary Chlorophyll c is a key photosynthetic pigment that has been used historically to classify eukaryotic algae.
The core microbiome of cultured Pacific oyster spat develops with age but not mortality
Abstract The Pacific oyster (Magallana gigas, also known as Crassostrea gigas) is the most widely cultured shellfish worldwide, but production has been affected by mortality events. This includes mortality events in hatcheries that can threaten the seed supply for growers.
Serine synthesis pathway upregulated by E-cadherin is essential for the proliferation and metastasis of breast cancers
New Results doi: https://doi.org/10.1101/2023.05.24.541452 Abstract The loss of E-cadherin (E-cad), an epithelial cell adhesion molecule, has been implicated in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), promoting invasion and migration of cancer cells and, consequently, metastasis. However, recent studies have demonstrated that E-cad supports the survival and proliferation of metastatic cancer cells, suggesting that our understanding of E-cad in metastasis is far from comprehensive.

The circulating form of neprilysin is not a general biomarker for overall survival in treatment-naïve cancer patients
Abstract The transmembrane zink-metalloendopeptidase neprilysin (NEP) is implicated in cardiovascular disease but also tumor biology. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship of circulating NEP (cNEP) levels with established cardiovascular biomarkers and its effect on overall survival in an unselected cohort of treatment-naïve cancer patients. 555 consecutive cancer patients prior anticancer therapy were enrolled prospectively.
Meet Emily from Auburn's Climbing Club
Created as a way for Auburn's climbing enthusiasts to compete with other universities, the AU Climbing Club has placed at numerous competitions since its official start last spring. Development of species-specific primers with potential for amplifying eDNA from imperilled freshwater unionid mussels
Environmental DNA (eDNA) is emerging as a potentially powerful tool for inferring species’ presence, and hence occupancy, from DNA that is shed into environmental samples such as water. Although eDNA screening has been used to detect DNA from a variety of taxonomic groups, it has not yet been used to identify DNA from species with numerous potentially sympatric confamilial species, a situation that may preclude the development of species-specific markers.
