Abstract A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 4 (ADAMTS4) has been implicated in arthritis and lung fibroblast activation; however, its role in liver homeostasis and fibrogenesis remains largely unexplored. Here, we investigated the functional significance of ADAMTS4 in liver fibrosis. We found that hepatic ADAMTS4 mRNA expression was significantly elevated in patients with fibrotic steatohepatitis.

Abstract Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a devastating X-linked disorder caused by dystrophin gene mutations. Despite recent advances in understanding the disease etiology and applying emerging treatment methodologies, glucocorticoid derivatives remain the only general therapeutic option that can slow disease development. However, the precise molecular mechanism of glucocorticoid action remains unclear, and there is still need for additional remedies to complement the treatment.

Abstract Alternative splicing contributes to complex traits, but whether this differs in trait-relevant cell types across diverse genetic ancestries is unclear. Here we describe cell-type-specific, sex-biased and ancestry-biased alternative splicing in ~1 M peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 474 healthy donors from the Asian Immune Diversity Atlas. We identify widespread sex-biased and ancestry-biased differential splicing, most of which is cell-type-specific.
