Assumption Parish man arrested for allegedly harassing witnesses in ongoing criminal trial

An Assumption Parish man was arrested for allegedly trying to harass witnesses connected with an ongoing criminal trial, according to the sheriff’s office. Kentrell Lang, 46, of Napoleonville, was arrested Wednesday and charged with five counts of intimidating, impeding, or injuring witnesses/officers and one count of resisting an officer. Deputies responded to the incident Wednesday morning near where court proceedings were to begin.

Gonzales once again delays decision on subdivision expansion, seeking environmental study

For the second time, the Gonzales City Council has deferred a request to rezone nearly 36 acres along West Orice Roth Road for townhomes, this time seeking a wetlands study before making a decision. The request, submitted by D. Daniels Construction, would allow the developer to begin preliminary plans for 68 townhomes and 18 single-family homes that would be a part of the already established Gonzales Trace subdivision. The land is roughly 36 acres of vacant property along West Orice Roth Road.
