Even though created in the early 20th century, paintings by Swedish artist Hilma af Klint showcase palettes that feel contemporary even now, their dusty pinks and purples, verdant greens and oranges, saffron yellows, and pale blues arranged in spirals, circles, grids, and architectural symmetries. Her use of color, geometry, and radical abstraction transformed early modern art. But it wasn’t until the late 1980’s that she began to rise to her international renown of today.
