Federal authorities say they have seized 14 Oregon properties turned into indoor plantations by a drug trafficking operation producing marijuana worth millions on the black market. The seized properties are worth over $5.7 million and include homes outside Silverton, Dallas and Independence, according to a complaint documenting the forfeitures. The owner of a 15th home paid $400,000 to the federal government to avoid having to fork over the property.

Police found mail stolen from over 200 people earlier this week while searching a man’s south Salem apartment. The Salem Police Department said on Thursday that detectives had finished sorting through the documents seized as part of the nearly two-year-long mail theft investigation which resulted in the arrest of Ross B. Sierzega, 33. Police do not know what parts of Salem the mail came from because they only know the names of the owners, according to department spokeswoman Angela Hedrick.

There’s an array of egg hunts to embark on in Salem this Easter weekend, plus a nighttime viewing of cherry blossoms and a slew of live shows. This is your guide to Salem events from Friday, March 29, to Sunday, March 31. Skyline Baptist Church in southwest Salem will host a family Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. The free, annual event involves all family members in games, crafts and story time before kids will be broken up into age groups for the egg hunt.
