Suppose you are a woman. Suppose you are a woman who does things: directs movies, paints, runs a business, raises children, advocates for human rights, is a sound engineer, is a chef, etc. Now suppose you are in search of clothing that can take you through the day in comfort and style—low-fuss, nonbasic fashion that helps you flesh out your taste and express your personality. Remembering Pope.L (1955–2023)
The artist professionally known as Pope.L was born on a Tuesday in June 1955 to Lucille Lancaster. He was her second child, and she gave him his father’s name: William Pope. It was a typical summer day in Newark, New Jersey, and the papers would hardly cover anything notable. Surely, then, this birth was the memorable thing: a singular event, the beginning of a storied life and career that would impact generations of artists.

What is your first memory, Coco Hailey Gordon Moore? I weirdly have a memory of losing a tooth really early on. I was very young. I was sitting on my couch, watching The Powerpuff Girls or something, wiggling it, and I was shocked when it came out. And then it never grew back in – I never got an adult tooth.

The artful, gritty, and elegant campaign by Ari Marcopoulos gives this thoughtfully designed shoe the treatment it deserves— placing the new product in a '90s-inspired aesthetic time warp against the city that never sleeps.

It’s a balmy afternoon and the air conditioning is blasting cold air into the minimal, uncluttered space.
