DeWine instructs Ohio State Highway Patrol to offer further law enforcement in university area

In light of recent crime incidents involving Ohio State students, Gov. Mike DeWine instructed the Ohio State Highway Patrol to assist the Ohio State Police Department and the Columbus Division of Police in patrolling the university area. The additional patrols will begin immediately. “Two antisemitic incidents have occurred in the past 24 hours against Ohio State students. We will not tolerate hate and violence on our college campuses or anywhere in Ohio.

Rape and stalking are top crimes on campus, 2022 Annual Safety Report shows

Rape, fondling, stalking and burglary were among the most reported crimes on Ohio State’s Columbus campus last year. The Clery Act, initially passed in 1990, requires public colleges and universities to release annual security reports with campus crime statistics including criminal offenses, hate crimes, Violence Against Women Act offenses and arrests and referrals for disciplinary action.
