What was your first job as a journalist?
i interviewed hisham bharoocha about making music and a living during the pandemic
Have you ever used a typewriter?
our household had a typewriter rather than a word processor before computers were ubiquitous

i don't have a good answer for this but what a wonderful question!
What does it mean to be a journalist?
to write about the world with methods that can be trusted
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
transparency is all that matters to me
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
my AA is in education with endorsements in language arts and social science, my BA is in journalism and communication. notebook & keyboard ok
Who do you wish followed you?
more people interested in small press, more people in education and library circles
Why did you become a journalist?
when trying to become a teacher i found my true love was written analysis
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
every interview i've done for the beat has been intimidating and gratifying in equal measure
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
persevere, the longer you last the more skills you accrue the better you get, that's you become who were once your betters- in time
When's the best time to pitch you?
ideally at least a few weeks before your desired pub date so that it can get worked into queue without me losing my shit

covering MICE (Mass Independent Comics Expo)... and then Mini-MICE!
