Developer David Genova of Greenwood Development and attorney Alan Trembulak continued their effort to persuade the Planning Board to approve a proposed swimming school on Valley Road in Montclair, presenting two witnesses and hearing testimony from Montclair Deputy Fire Chief Michael Lizza during Monday night’s meeting. The hearing, which was first held in February, was continued for a third time.

Interim Business Administrator Dana Sullivan presented an update Wednesday on Montclair Public School District’s corrective action plan, outlining steps the district has taken in response to audit findings and ongoing efforts to stabilize district finances. The corrective action plan was developed following an audit of the 2024–25 school year conducted by PFK O’Connor Davies, which identified 17 recommendations for corrective action.

Glenfield Middle School has launched its own student-run podcast, “The Glenfield Pod,” made possible through a grant from the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence. The podcast released its first episode April 20, featuring an interview with MFEE Executive Director Masiel Rodriguez-Vars about the nonprofit’s role in supporting education, diversity in Montclair Public Schools, the district’s budget deficit and other topics.
