8/27 @ Ryman 2 Under the gaze of the Big Lady at the Ryman 2, the anticipation makes my heart flutter. The final touches on setup; glitch video on the projector, PA blasting footwork (go-to R2 house music), door set up, D.A. came early to take portraits of the band. We referred to this part of the tour as the “World Tour,” because we were really just playing in Tennessee, NYC and Ohio. When billing the night, we set out to reach toward opposite ends of the sonic spectrum.

Clusters of folks await the midday service on the Red Line in the final days before the fare hike. They stare, and knock on the doors of the arrested train cars, before the train starts back up, leaving them behind. Weekend Green Line shutdowns and shuttle-busing delays arrival to open coffee shops, dog daycare places, and retail stores. Getting to work on time is imperative in order to provide the service expected of them in wealthy neighborhoods like Cambridge and Brookline.
