As school fights spread on social media, OUSD struggles to keep up

The videos are hard to watch. One video, posted on Instagram in 2023 and recorded at what appears to be the parking lot at Oakland Technical High School, shows a teen boy and girl beating and dragging each other while a second girl throws punches at the boy. At least a dozen other teens gathered around to watch, some with their phones out to record. Someone in the background eggs them on, saying, “Get that shit!” A few try to break up the fight. In the 41-second clip, no adults appear.
