Atelier AJO

Atelier AJO’s renovation of a former farmhouse in Pont-de-Salars introduces an interior defined by clarity, restraint, and material calm, set in deliberate contrast with the heaviness of its rural shell. Around a central courtyard, the fragmented agricultural ensemble is gently reconnected through a series of precise but unobtrusive spatial adjustments. Inside, the atmosphere is strikingly pared back.

Project description by Atelier AJO The project involves the renovation of an old, uninhabited farm annex—formerly used to house farm workers and part of a complex organized around a central courtyard. The owners’ main goal was to transform this space into a cozy home where they could welcome family and friends on weekends.

located in the countryside of aveyron, in south france, ‘lakeside sauna’ by atelier AJO takes shape as a small wooden cabin formed by a group of friends using mainly timber from the neighboring sawmill. between cows and meadows, the project is strategically placed on the pond shore of a lake, facing the beech forest and the sunset.
