After two rounds of undergraduate seat allocations, hundreds of seats remain vacant at several of Delhi University’s off-campus colleges, even as its most sought-after institutions have filled their seats. A report in The Indian Express, based on the vacancy list released for the third round of the Common Seat Allocation System for the 2026–27 academic session, said Bhagini Nivedita College had more than 800 vacant seats.

Delhi: The premises of Furry Friends Forever in Dwarka generally remain quiet, with only a few families present at a time. Some wait outside the cremation chambers carrying collars, leashes or photographs. Others sit on nearby benches until their pets’ ashes are handed to them. Opened in December 2023, Furry Friends Forever is the city’s first pet crematorium run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Delhi: Every year, lakhs of students take the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), hoping to become eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor and secure a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to fund their doctoral research. Only a small proportion, however, qualify for the fellowship. The issue of the limited number of JRFs awarded to UGC-NET qualifiers was raised in Parliament during the Monsoon Session.
