Impact of intensive control on malaria population genomics under elimination settings in Southeast Asia
Abstract The malaria elimination programme in Kayin State (Myanmar) uses malaria posts for rapid detection and treatment, together with mass drug administration in high-transmission villages, which has reduced transmission by 97%. Here we examine the impact of control on parasite genomic parameters to inform future control efforts.

Abstract Background We investigated parasite population genomics during an intensive malaria elimination program in Kayin State (Myanmar), in which malaria posts were used for rapid detection and treatment of malaria cases, while mass drug administration (MDA) was used in villages with high submicroscopic reservoirs.

Summary Background The Greater Mekong subregion is a recurrent source of antimalarial drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum malaria. This study aimed to characterise the extent and spread of resistance across this entire region between 2007 and 2018.
