FREELAND, Mich. (WNEM) - Coming into the final round of the Saginaw District Golf Tournament at Apple Mountain, the race was tight towards the top of the leaderboard. However, by the end of the round, the outcome was well in doubt. Alan Pumford led through the first two rounds, but only had a one stroke advantage on defending champion, Mike Wenglikowski. On the 10th hole, Wenglikowski opened up the back nine by sinking his 3rd straight birdie to take a two stroke lead over Pumford.

Forwards Egor Barabanov and Brody Pepoy, along with goaltenders Brady Knowling and Stepan Shurygin, were selected by NHL clubs. Calgary Flames: 4th Round, 100th overall - (F) Egor Barabanov The OHL’s second-leading assist man was Saginaw’s first player off the board on day two of the 2026 NHL Draft.

FREELAND, Mich. (WNEM) - It was quite the soggy start to this year’s Saginaw District Golf Tournament. Despite the wet conditions at Apple Mountain thanks to the storms the night before, the competition was still tight in the opening round. Five-time and current defending champion Mike Wenglikowski jumped ahead early with a couple of birdies on the front nine. However Alan Pumford managed to keep pace with Mike, leading the pack with five birdies on the day.
