After weeks of debate, county council passed a county-wide anti-discrimination ordinance backed by fines. In 90-days the ordinance will go into effect. Cheers echoed through the courthouse following council’s vote, but not everyone was pleased that it passed.

Homeless camps causing problems for neighbors Original

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — People living in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre say homeless encampments in the surrounding wooded areas are nothing new, but that recently, they’ve gotten out of hand. Large piles of garbage riddle the forest floor, including needles and other drug paraphernalia. Barbed wire blocks the entrances to some of the camps. Some are well kept and even decorated, but others are littered with waste. For many, these camps are home.
