Janus particles are a type of micro- or nanoparticle that have two hemispheres with distinct properties, which can be used as highly sensitive biosensing platforms. Their anisotropic surfaces offer enhanced selectivity and control when detecting and probing biomolecules. One example is Janus-like ferromagnetic particles, which consist of a polystyrene core and a shell of ferromagnetic chromium oxide nanorods.
