Meta disrupts Iran-linked AI network targeting US politicians and journalists

Meta has removed a network of Facebook and Instagram accounts linked to operators in Iran who used artificial intelligence and fake American personas to target US audiences, including politicians and journalists, Axios reported. Meta said it disrupted four Facebook accounts and 31 Instagram accounts whose operators posed as US-based activists, students and graphic designers purportedly living in cities including Washington, San Diego and Atlanta.

Simin Fahandej told Iran International that pressure on the community had intensified following nationwide protests in January, fitting what she described as a longstanding pattern in which Bahá’ís are targeted during periods of crisis. “Every single time that there has been a crisis in Iran, the Baha'i community is the first to be scapegoated,” Fahandej said, adding that confiscation of Bahá’í property had been a feature of persecution since the 1979 revolution.

Trump says Strait of Hormuz open, Iran response 'very mild' - Axios

US President Donald Trump said the Strait of Hormuz was open and Iran's response to US operations there had been limited, Axios reported on Friday. “That sucker is open. The Iranian response is very mild,” Trump told Axios in a phone interview on Thursday. “They don't want us to go back at them. That's the whole ball game. The rest doesn't matter,” he added.
