The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) on Wednesday welcomed the intent behind the National Treasury’s announcement to temporarily withhold the July 2026 equitable share transfers to 69 municipalities. Committee Chairperson Dr Zweli Mkhize has now urged affected municipalities to urgently comply with the conditions set by Treasury after the temporary withdrawal of key funding.
