1 Introduction Gob-side entry retaining is a roadway layout method in which, behind the coal mining face, through the adoption of specific support methods, the mining roadway is retained along the edge of the goaf to serve the next working face [1, 2]. Its main advantages are as follows: First, it can reduce the amount of roadway excavation work, cut down on the equipment and labor costs invested in roadway excavation, and alleviate the tight situation of working face replacement.
