1. Introduction Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a disorder of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, mainly due to elevated parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion. Most cases (90%) are caused by a single hormone-producing adenoma, with multiple adenomas (2% - 4%) and parathyroid carcinoma (<1%) being rarer causes [1] [2].
