Modelling the memory of unmyelinated axons: Integration of a data-driven approach with physiological memory concept
Introduction Understanding the function and dynamics of nerve fibres is fundamental to advancing our knowledge of the nervous system and developing treatments for neurological conditions. Unmyelinated axons play a crucial role in transmitting sensory signals, particularly in nociception and pain signalling (Dubin & Patapoutian, 2010). They are also abundantly present in the central nervous system (Soleng et al., 2003; Westenbroek et al., 1989).
