Abstract Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe psychiatric disorder characterized by food restriction and significantly low body weight. Even after weight restoration, core symptoms such as body dissatisfaction, intense fear of eating, and preoccupation with body shape and weight often persist, contributing to a high risk of relapse.

TO THE EDITOR: I work in a buprenorphine clinic in Greater Boston. I agree with most of Martin and colleagues' (1) observations and suggestions about liberalizing the prescribing of buprenorphine for treatment of opioid dependence. However, I wish that the authors had discussed some disturbing issues that I deal with daily. Many patients request prescriptions for other medications that may be abused—specifically, amphetamine–dextroamphetamine, gabapentin, and alprazolam (2, 3).
