Tony Fanara of Palermo's Italian Restaurant. Los Feliz — Tony Fanara, owner of the landmark Palermo Italian Restaurant, and a former candidate for governor, died Friday at his restaurant, according to his daughter Michelle. He was 79. "We don't have the cause of death yet," Michelle said, "but it looks like it was a heart attack." Fanara is survived by three children and his wife. News of his death as well as reactions to it emerged on social media over the weekend.
