Community spirit shines as Garnish welcomes Cork U16 football squad
There was a buzz around Cahermore on Saturday morning. Garnish GAA welcomed the Cork U16 football squad for a full training session on the Beara peninsula — a proud moment for the club and for two of its own, Setanta O’Sullivan and Ryan Healy. The county development squad made the long trip west for what proved to be a lively and worthwhile workout, with Garnish providing excellent facilities, strong support and a warm community welcome.

They see him as central to the county’s underage revival, a manager whose influence stretches far beyond matchdays.
Carbery boss Gene O'Donovan: 'They're young, they're fearless, and they don't care who's who'
Carbery manager Gene O’Donovan said Friday’s 2-23 to 2-15 victory over Muskerry in the McCarthy Insurance Group Divisions/Colleges Premier SFC seeded final at Páirc Uí Rinn was built on resilience, honesty, and a refusal to panic. Speaking after collecting the Derry Gowen Cup, O’Donovan admitted there was nothing comfortable about seeing off Muskerry, even with an eight-point margin on the board. “It’s never comfortable against Muskerry,” he said.
