Abstract Visible-Light-Mediated synthesis is a green and efficient technique that has garnered interest from organic chemists. A new series of polyfunctionally substituted phthalazine derivatives 3a–j were synthesized via a metal-free reaction of pyridazines 1a–d with arylidenes 2a–d in the presence of a catalytic amount of piperidine, in absolute ethanol as a solvent, under white LED lamp irradiation at room temperature using open air as oxidant, in 90–93% yields.
