Family history included leukemia in a paternal uncle, pharyngeal cancer in a paternal aunt, and Ewing’s sarcoma in a maternal aunt.
Partial Breast Radiotherapy for Women with Early Breast Cancer: 10-Year Outcomes from IMPORT LOW (CRUK/06/003)
IMPORT LOW is a randomized, multi-center phase III trial testing partial breast radiotherapy (RT) using intensity modulated RT in women with early-stage breast cancer at lower than average risk of ipsilateral breast tumor relapse (IBTR). Five-year results concluded non-inferiority for reduced-dose & partial-breast RT with similar normal tissue effects (reduced for breast appearance & hardness as reported by patients; Lancet, 2017). Here we report outcomes after 10 years.
‘ACOPP’ chemotherapy for older and less fit patients with Hodgkin lymphoma-a multicentre, retrospective study
Introduction: Patients (pts) aged ≥60 years comprise 20%–30% of classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) diagnoses, but are significantly underrepresented in clinical trials and outcomes for this group have not improved in line with advances seen in younger counterparts. Whilst there is evidence that anthracycline-containing regimens result in superior outcomes, older pts typically have poor tolerance of the chemotherapy regimens used in younger pts.

The Long and the Short of it: the Role of Short-course Radiotherapy in the Neoadjuvant Management of Rectal Cancer
Abstract Total mesorectal excision is the cornerstone of treatment for rectal cancer. Multiple randomised trials have shown a reduction in local recurrence rates with the addition of preoperative radiotherapy, either as a 1-week hypofractionated short-course (SCRT) or a conventionally fractionated long-course (LCRT) schedule with concurrent chemotherapy. There is also increasing interest in the addition of neoadjuvant chemotherapy to radiotherapy with the aim of improving disease-free survival.

VinCaP: a phase II trial of vinflunine in locally advanced and metastatic squamous carcinoma of the penis - British Journal of Cancer
Abstract Background We investigated the first-line activity of vinflunine in patients with penis cancer. Cisplatin-based combinations are commonly used, but survival is not prolonged; many patients are unfit for such treatment or experience toxicity that outweighs clinical benefit. Methods Twenty-five patients with inoperable squamous carcinoma of the penis were recruited to a single-arm, Fleming–A’Hern exact phase II trial. Treatment comprised 4 cycles of vinflunine 320 mg/m2, given every 21 days.
