‘Not such a bad thing’: Why did feminist Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain say this about the burka?
I have often heard that it is our “obscene system of seclusion” that obstructs our development. When I meet with highly educated sisters face-to-face, they often tell me to give up the “burka.” But what is this thing we call development? Does it dwell only outside the burka? If that is the case, then are we to understand that fishwives, hide-tanners, and corpse-clearers are more developed than us? Yet it is our belief that there is no excessive conflict between seclusion and development.

2021 Season By Ben Baer Austin FC again played in front of an energetic crowd at Q2 Stadium on Saturday night but the Verde & Black were unable to come up with a victory, losing 1-0 to the Colorado Rapids. Andre Shinyashiki scored the lone goal of the match, scoring the game-winner in the 29th minute. The goal came in when Michael Barrios found himself in a pocket of space and slipped a throughball to Andre Shinyashiki.

Austin FC traveled north to Minnesota for the second time this season to take on Minnesota United FC, hoping to match their win from last month. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as the Verde & Black lost 2-0 on Wednesday at Allianz Field. Nick Lima had to leave the match early in the 9th minute after suffering an apparent leg injury. Hector Jimenez replaced him at right back.

Is Raul Ruidiaz underrated?
The Seattle Sounders are off to a somewhat surprising 2-0-1 start after beating the LA Galaxy 2-0 on Sunday night. Their seven points puts them atop the Western Conference after three weeks and their +7 goal differential is best in MLS. Heading into the year some thought (including me) that Seattle could have a bit of a down year, with some key pieces not coming back and Jordan Morris being out injured.
2021 MLS Betting Guide: Week 1

Talent drain in Harrison
Shep Messing said something on the Red Bulls broadcast that stuck out to me on Saturday night, as the Red Bulls lost 2-1 to Sporting Kansas City at home. It was along the lines of: “Gerhard Struber is the Red Bulls’ Designated Player.” For a club that once touted Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez, it’s been a long road that has taken them to the point where the roster mostly relies on players brought up from their USL side, loans from Salzburg and inter-league signings or trades.

Compare the average ages of every MLS team for the 2019 season
FC Dallas are known for espousing the “play your kids” ethos, and the numbers back it up. The North Texas club will field the youngest roster in Major League Soccer in 2019, with an average age of 24.12 years, according to statistics compiled by MLSsoccer.com’s Ben Baer. (These figures reflect MLS rosters as of Feb.
Boehm: Zack Steffen’s got the mojo; now can he keep it?
Sometimes it’s not merely a question of how well you perform, but where and when – and who’s watching. At age 23, just two years into his life as a starting professional goalkeeper, Zack Steffen has already made quite a name for himself. Thanks to two straight years of shootout heroics for Columbus Crew SC in the Knockout Round of the playoffs, he’s gained a reputation as a penalty-kick specialist (and rightly so, as opponents have only scored 4 of 11 against him all-time).
