1. Introduction Osyris lanceolata Hochst. & Steud. (East African sandalwood) is a root hemiparasitic plant that belongs to the family Santalaceae and genus Osyris [1] [2]. Members in this family are culturally and commercially useful species providing essential oils used in the perfumery, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries [3] [4]. Locally, the bark and root extracts treat candidiasis, malaria, diarrhea, chest pain, and fever in Africa [4]-[6].
