Nach der Bundestagswahl im Februar trifft sich das deutsche Parlament am Dienstag zum ersten Mal - in deutlich kleinerer Größe. In der ablaufenden Wahlperiode saßen 733 Abgeordnete im Plenum. In der neuen Periode werden es nur noch 630 sein. Damit ist der Bundestag nicht mehr das größte demokratisch gewählte Parlament der Welt. Dieser Titel geht jetzt an das Europaparlament, das in allen EU-Mitgliedsstaaten gewählt wird. Es hat zurzeit 720 Abgeordnete.
