LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — Huntington’s disease can be a quiet intruder, a rare, progressive disorder that affects both thinking and movement, and one that still has no cure. This fall, Arkansans impacted by the disease will have a chance to come together, learn more and support one another during the Team Hope Walk. The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is working to raise awareness and connect people across Arkansas with support and community.

Lindsey Williams, an Arkansas resident, has battled DVT for the past eight years. "My first instance of a major DVT, I had just tremendous back pain, and one day, woke up and my whole entire left leg was blue," Williams said.

John Paul Hammerschmidt, the longtime Arkansas congressman who defeated Bill Clinton in the former president's first race for political office, has died. Hammerschmidt spent two decades in Congress before retiring in 1993. Hammerschmidt was elected to Congress in 1966, becoming Arkansas' first Republican congressman since Reconstruction. Changing lives one child at a time - that's the mission of a local nonprofit established by Little Rock native and former NFL great Keith Jackson. P.A.R.K, which stands for Positive Atmosphere Reaches Kids, targets high risk students and helps them further their education. More than 250 kids come to this facility in Little Rock after school for support with homework, tutoring, and recreational activities. 85% of them come from low income families.
