Rising together: Collaborative project delivery for the nuclear fleet
As the nuclear industry enters one of the most significant investment periods in its history, utilities are managing unprecedented capital portfolios while simultaneously preparing for long-term operation, plant modernization, extended power uprates, digital transformation, workforce challenges, and new nuclear opportunities. No single utility can solve these challenges alone.

The importance of the Owasco Lake watershed's nine-element plan
If you care about Owasco Lake, please take the time to read the 2025 nine-element plan progress report. The report was released by Owasco Lake Watershed 9E Plan Project Coordination Committee. Special thanks to committee member Michele Wunderlich for all her hard work on this project. A copy of the report is available on the Cayuga County Planning Department website. It is a document outlining the progress of programs developed to improve water quality in our county.
This post was originally published on Athlon Outdoors. In the market for a new pistol optic? With so many choices, price points, and different models available, how does once chose what’s right for them? First question is, do you want an open or closed emitter? Many are moving towards closed emitters these days as the emitter itself is encased and free from debris, as well as it being easier to clean the lenses.

How riparian buffers help reduce harmful algal blooms (OWLA)
"Riparian" is from the Latin word "ripa," meaning "riverbank." Riparian buffers protect waterways from excess nutrients in farm field runoff and urban pollution caused by everyday human activities. Buffers can stabilize streams and rivers, helping to reduce flooding and riverbank erosion. Buffers can provide a habitat for all kinds of birds and animals, helping to keep the balance in nature so necessary for biodiversity.
Two cocktails from the creators of Big O Ginger Liqueur
Thirsty for more Big O? Here, owners Kathy Kuper and Bill Foster share some of their favorite recipes using their famed ginger liqueur. Sultry Señorita Margarita “The Sultry Señorita Margarita was one of the first cocktails we created for Big O. And what a great creation! We made it for our table at a typical St. Louis Trivia Fundraiser – and it continues to have a place at the table. Big O adds a little sweetness and spice to these classic flavors while balancing and rounding out the drink.
OWLA: The value of riparian buffers for the Owasco Lake watershed
Riparian buffers are mixed vegetated areas that grow along rivers, streams and lakes. They also are planted alongside roads to prevent runoff in ditches that feed our streams and rivers. In this area, we used to call them hedge rows, and farm fields were intersected by these wooded lots. We have come to realize that natural buffers play a significant role in preserving the integrity of our watersheds.
LETTER: Bradford Bypass is blatant misuse of public funds by the Doug Ford government
This announcement is about 90 per cent propaganda and 10 per cent meaningful fact. The only facts that were announced were the $16-million cost to design the western 6.5-kilometre portion of this 16-kilometre highway and the name of the contractor, who, not surprisingly, is the same contractor that has worked on this project since 2019. This is the easy section of the highway from an environmental perspective. The central portion will be significantly more difficult.
Owasco Watershed Lake Association: Lake a source of memories as well as water
When first asked to write this article for the Lake Life section of The Citizen, I thought, "How will I do this?" Since I’ve never had the pleasure of living directly on Owasco Lake. But once I started, I realized that the lake was part of everyone’s experience growing up in Cayuga County. My earliest memories of the lake began on Swift Street. My parents took the family to see Vic & Jack’s play Swifty’s at the Y-Field.

Vols Dominate Tide in Most Balanced Game of Year
T Words and Photos: Bill Foster The Tennessee Volunteers put together their best all-around game of the season Saturday afternoon as they smothered Alabama 91-71. It was a game where something had to give as Alabama has scored over 74 every game this season, while the Vols are just 4-3 when allowing that many points. The Crimson Tide gave, but not without a fight.
Fuel Tax rort continues
The Auckland Council Annual Report is out, and Regional Fuel Tax (RFT) receipts for Auckland were up 10% for the 2023 year to $152 million (2022: $138m), despite the impacts of higher fuel prices and more electric vehicles. However, council spending of the RFT monies only increased 6.7% to $111m (2022: $104m).
OWLA: We support revised Owasco Lake Watershed Rules & Regulations
The Owasco Lake Watershed Rules & Regulations had not been revised since 1984 when a project to do so began in the spring of 2017. The goal of the project was to “improve, protect and preserve” Owasco Lake. Concern for a lake watershed that provides drinking water for most of Cayuga County was a major factor in the push for new regulations. Over the next two years, the committee of volunteers met numerous times and developed a core model of updated rules and regulations for our watershed.
Torture Test: Primary Arms SLx 1x Microprism & Rise Watchmen
Most reading this have seen some crazy and almost painful to witness “torture” tests on various weapons and gear. Firearms, optics, and other accessories pushed past the point of failure. It makes for good reading, especially when it’s not your gear getting the beat down. There is another purpose served here, though, if you can see it. Allow me to demonstrate with the Primary Arms SLx 1x Microprism and Rise Armament Watchmen.

Protecting American innovation

The future of the Iran nuclear deal
Three weeks ago, President Trump announced his refusal to certify to Congress Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the grounds that he does not believe that it is in our national interest—despite his acknowledgement that Iran is in full compliance with the terms of the agreement. The facts, however, show that the deal is working.
