I went to the National Gallery of Art today to see the tremendous exhibit, “Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955-1985”, which ends this Sunday. The show features about 150 works by more than 100 artists and includes the work of Romare Bearden, Kwame Braithwaite, Roy DeCarava, Carrie Mae Weems, Gordon Parks and Ming Smith. One of the works in the exhibit was a photograph by Frank Stewart of Miles Davis in his dressing room in 1982.
