12 Defining Moments: The Moment to Engage
“Time,” writes Os Guinness, “is too much for our minds to figure out and too great for our ingenuity to outwit.” At best, we hope to redeem the time God grants us. This requires that we seize moments that come during our ministries. So far, we’ve explored six. The seventh moment calls for even greater vigilance. Will we lead the church to effectively impact culture? Standing atop Mars Hill in Athens on a recent journey, I tried to imagine the Apostle Paul’s moment of cultural seizure.

Texas, love it or leave it
Many people online were disappointed with the ruling and blamed Texas for initiating the lawsuit after a judge ruled DACA, the "Dreamers" rule imposed by then President Barack Obama, is unconstitutional. “I didn’t even need to open the article to know that it was Texas. Texas conservatives are the slime of humanity,” one person commented, whereas another added, “Annexing Texas was always gonna bite us in the butt.” kAmx7 E96J 92E6 %6I2D E92E >F49 >2J36 H6 D9@F=5 ;FDE H:E95C2H 7C@> E96 &?:@?

Hear O Israel, the L-RD is Our G-D, the L-RD is One
by Bill White Shema Yisrael at the Knesset Menorah in Jerusalem In a world marred by many different forms of idolatry, for the followers of Judaism, Hashem, meaning "The Name," represents the Almighty G-D, the one true deity whose sovereignty transcends time and space. At the heart of Hashem's divinity lies the belief in His absolute power as the Creator of the universe.
Government Shutdowns: How We Got Here
Today’s budget wars would be unrecognizable to earlier generations of Americans. A veteran reporter on government looks at the history of shutdowns and battles over the budget. Editor's Note: Charles S. Clark spent 40 years as a reporter for The Washington Post, Congressional Quarterly, National Journal, and other publications. He recently authored “George Washington Parke Custis: A Rarefied Life in America’s First Family,” and writes a weekly column for the Falls Church News-Press.

David Selberg, Tom Rauser, Bill White and Duane Baker Special to The Desert Sun We, the homeowners association at Mesquite Country Club, recognize that the community has questions and concerns about our adjacent golf course and the pending lawsuit against the Oswit Land Trust and Palms Partners, and we intend to provide as much information as we can without jeopardizing that litigation.
Life’s Risks: Flying Low and Fast
By nature, we tend to focus on dying too early, while overlooking the risk of living “too long.” Here are some sobering statistics that might change how we think about living longer. A man who is 65 years old today can expect to live, on average, until around age 84. A woman who is 65 years old today can expect to live, on average, until nearly age 87.
The next level in spiritual maturity - it’s Jesus’ church
By Bill White, Op-ed Contributor Red Church. Blue Church. Purple Church. True Church? Ever find yourself wondering – What is the church? What is it for? What does it mean to be a true Christ-follower as part of the family of God in our world in our day? What is my part in it? Is being a Christian really about embroiling myself in politics? Engaging angry hate speech on social media toward people I disagree with?
How to Be a Refreshing River of Life to Others Original
One of the highlights of any trip to Israel is visiting the Dead Sea. It’s the lowest elevation on earth at 1,412 feet below sea level. It’s also one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water—nine times saltier than the ocean. Why is it called a “Dead” Sea? Two reasons. First, it’s so low that whatever flows in can’t get out, so it’s a dead-end for the flow of water. And second, it’s so salty that nothing can live in it.
Who Are Your BEST Customers?
ImageegamI/Getty Images Bill White | Oct 05, 2021 I’ve always been fascinated by the number of business owners/operators who don’t know who their best customers are. Virtually everyone I’ve ever asked can tell me who they “think” their best customers are. However, very few have actually analyzed their customer base enough to really know which customers are their BEST.
Bob Kendrick, John Shea, and former teammate Bill White on the great Willie Mays on Apple Podcasts
1 hr 4 min John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle joins Bob Kendrick to celebrate the career of former Birmingham Black Baron and baseball icon Willie Mays, from his Negro Leagues playing style (4:19), his comparisons to the great Oscar Charleston (7:15), his showdown with Satchel Paige (9:10), and his career with the Birmingham Black Barons (15:32), to his Hall of Fame Major League career, and just how close he came to sharing an outfield with Henry Aaron as a Cleveland Indian (23:32).
Bill White: Grain Belt Express a great investment for Missouri
For the better part of the last century Missouri law has been very consistent about what needs to happen for a large-scale energy infrastructure project to get approved in the Show-Me State. It’s a grueling process through the Missouri Public Service Commission, but it’s fair. Unfortunately, some in Jefferson City seem to believe that lawmakers should insert themselves in this process in order to pick winners and losers, an action that would be abhorrent to conservatives like me.
BE READY - Do Not Get Ready
Getty Images Bill White | Apr 06, 2021 As we enter the second quarter of 2021, businesses all across the land are excited at the prospect of COVID restrictions being reduced or eliminated and businesses returning to full operating capacity. We are all excited by the potential return to normalcy.
Bill White: Texas has a 'rainy day' reserve for budget shortfalls - why not for electricity?
Texans take pride in our state’s distinctive culture, but not in our latest distinction: During the harsh winter weather that recently covered much of the nation, we led in the numbers of our residents who froze for days without power.
The History of Presidential Mi..(Feb 21,Vol:66 Issue:2)
Distinguished historians have written twenty essays on alleged misconduct in Presidential administrations since George Washington. In 1974, a team of other historians and I assisted the impeachment investigation of Richard Nixon by documenting “misdeeds” in each Presidential administration. In the early months of 1974 the House Judiciary Committee was navigating through unchartered waters as it investigated President Richard M.
3 C’s in the 21st Century - A Lesson in Performance Improvement
Getty Images Bill White | Nov 10, 2020 We’ve all heard of Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking. However, how often have we considered how those three simple actions impact our businesses? In this article, I’m going to focus on how these three simple actions impact a waste hauler’s bottom line, customer satisfaction, and efficiency as a direct result of every team member’s ability to embrace the 3 C’s in the 21st century.
Fall Family Field Trip
For families looking for something to do this fall that is both educational and fun, the reopening of Tacoma's museum district is good news. The museums of the Tacoma Museum District - Washington State Historical Society, Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of Glass, LeMay - America's Car Museum, Foss Waterway Seaport, and Children's Museum of Tacoma - will begin opening their doors to the public starting Sept. 25.
Trump Loves Fallen Heroes - Despite Atlantic's Claims | Newsmax.com
I have worked intimately and with great resolve for over 25 years with the families of our fallen soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and Coastguardsmen. As CEO and co-founder of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, we raised over $1 billion for those who were catastrophically injured and who gave the ultimate sacrifice. I worked closely with Donald J. Trump over those years. He personally helped us to shine a spotlight on, and bring considerable help, to these families.
We Got the Money… Now What? (Commentary)
In my last column, I explained the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan plan and offered suggestions on how to apply and obtain funding. When I wrote that article, I could not have imagined that financial institutions would deploy $350 billion in less than two weeks. Thanks to Congress authorizing a second round of funding, most of the businesses that applied in those first two weeks obtained their money.
America just took on trillions in debt and we need a plan to pay it
The White House and Congress quickly authorized more than $2 trillion debt-financed spending in response to the emerging recession. No clear explanations of the long-term costs or principled limit on emergency borrowing could be heard among the voices claiming credit and promising relief. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin summarized the prevailing attitude: “we’ll deal with [the debt] later.” This week Congress and the White House agreed to borrow and spend almost half a trillion dollars more.
Historic Judgement of Paris Recreated in This Stunning Houston Symphony Wine Dinner
We would guess that more than a few of the black-tie-attired guests were stumped by the “Judgment of Paris, Act II” theme for the Houston Symphony Wine Dinner & Collector’s Auction. If you weren’t thinking wine in 1976, you might have missed the premiere Judgment in which California wines formally challenged French. California won in a monumental upset. On this night, two California and two French vintages were pitted against one another in a blind dinner tasting on stage at Jones Hall.
Where’s the Cash in Trash?
A look at the most common reasons haulers struggle financially. Bill White | Feb 04, 2020 One of the most common challenges independent haulers face is managing the financial side of their business. Over the course of my many years in the banking and waste industries, I’ve seen countless small businesses and independent haulers struggle financially. While many independent haulers run profitable businesses and are successful, a significant number of others are not.
WHITE: Let’s Thank God For Giving America A Fighter
November 28, 2019 8:30 AM ET In this holiday of expressing gratitude, one would be remiss in not giving thanks to the man who doesn’t hear it as much as he should. He’s a fighter who is constantly “resisted” for fabricated reasons that boil down to resentment and lack of respect. We see this from our media, disgruntled former employees and bitter 2016 losers. This is the perfect time of year for us to focus on the positives instead. And when you take a deep breath, it’s easy to do.
WHITE: Memorial Day A Time To Remember Those Who Gave Everything For Us
12:00 PM 05/27/2019 | Opinion Bill White | Constellations Group It is unfathomable to wrap ourselves around the enormity of Memorial Day and its true underlying message. It is singular in nature. Today we mourn, honor, celebrate, cherish and we never forget the fallen of our nation. That is the sacred meaning Memorial Day holds. Sometimes we lose sight of that in our busy lives. This is a message and a call to reaffirm our understanding of the day and remind us how important it is to us.
Democrats Damaged American Prosperity With Mueller Probe
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has released his report and the results are in: President Trump didn’t collude with the Russians to win the 2016 campaign. Better yet, he also didn’t commit obstruction of justice. This marks the end of two years of false narratives from liberal pundits and their allies that President Trump didn’t win the election fair and square. This should be a moment of unity considering that a big cloud over our nation has been lifted.
We Love Our City and Our Excelsior President
The New York Times has been puzzled by two socially liberal men in New York who are drawn to President Donald J. Trump. How could it be? asks the Grey Lady. Here’s the short answer from those two men (us): We are New Yorkers. New Yorkers are thick skinned, quick on their feet, independent, impatient. We fight back when pushed, fight for what’s right, tolerant of people different from you, proud of our history, grateful for our freedoms and how we got them, and operate in a make-or-break kind of way.
Coming 'Out' for Trump
Written by Bryan Eure on behalf of him and his husband Bill White. New York has always been known for its diversity and therefore for being tolerant. These days that’s only if you’re not a Republican and/or a Trump supporter. The most baffling thing about that is our President of the United States is a New Yorker. He is someone that truly defines the New York that I love and miss. Being a New Yorker use to mean you were successful, tough, loving, passionate, relentless, and authentic.
Brian Kemp Will Keep Georgia Great
I am a newly minted Georgia state resident. As one of America’s foremost Military, Veterans, and First Responders advocates, I have raised over $1.75 billion dollars for causes related to helping these brave men and women and their families during the most difficult times. Members of my family were born and or raised here in Georgia. We are proud supporters of President Donald J. Trump and his America First, winning agenda.
Independence Day Reminds Us That 'United We Stand, Divided We Fall'
Happy Birthday to our great nation. Let’s celebrate that extraordinary milestone — together. Stay cool, drink fluids and have fun with those you love. From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans bright with foam. God Bless America — our home sweet home. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and their buddy Alexander Hamilton and the other Founders had great ideas on the direction in which they wanted their new country to go.
White: Altuve embodies the best
I'm not one of those who view sports celebrities as heroes. It is too easy to overlook everyday heroes whose sacrifices receive no media attention, while high-profile athletes or entertainers are held up as role models.

Pay It All, and Pay It Quickly
The U.S. government experienced its worst fiscal crisis during the months leading up to Feb. 13, 1815. On that date, Congress learned of the treaty ending the War of 1812. The 200th anniversary is a fit time to remember the lessons learned from one of the U.S.’s harsh experiences with excessive debt. On Aug. 24, 1814, President James Madison fled Washington on a borrowed horse. He escaped the British army that torched the nation’s...
