Preoperative CT-derived skeletal muscle phenotypes, postoperative complication burden, and long-term survival after liver transplantation: a 90-day landmark mediation analysis
Abstract Background: CT-derived skeletal muscle index (SMI) and skeletal muscle density (SMD) may complement nutritional and functional assessment before liver transplantation, but pathways linking these body-composition phenotypes to long-term outcomes remain unclear. We evaluated whether cumulative 90-day postoperative complication burden was compatible with an intermediate pathway between lower preoperative SMI or SMD and long-term mortality.
Electronic-Geometric Pre-Compensation Enables Intermetallic RhSb Bimetallenes for Efficient Nitrite Electroreduction
1 Introduction The quest for sustainable chemical manufacturing centres on multi-electron, multi-step electrocatalytic processes, which enable the synthesis of high-value fuels and chemicals under ambient conditions [1-5]. Nevertheless, electrocatalyst design for these electrochemical conversions continues to be hampered by catalyst deactivation, which stems from the formation of strongly adsorbed (poisoning) intermediates [6-8].
Computer Science > Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition
Interleaved multimodal Chain-of-Thought (CoT) improves visual reasoning by incorporating auxiliary visual evidence into intermediate reasoning. However, existing approaches remain constrained by externally defined reasoning traces and visual operations, limiting their ability to develop flexible and abstract visual thinking. Reasoning with latent has recently offered a promising direction by internalizing intermediate computation into continuous representations.

Diameter-dependent nanojoint formation and grain refinement in femtosecond laser nanojoining of AgNWs
Abstract Femtosecond (fs) laser has emerged as an effective technique for nanojoining. However, the role of nanowire diameter and the associated electric field distribution under fs laser irradiation in nanojoint formation and polycrystalline evolution remains unclear. In this study, AgNW nanojoints were fabricated via fs laser irradiation, and the electric field intensity distribution was simulated using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method.

Trim47 protects against hypoxic–ischaemic brain injury in neonatal rats by reducing brain microvascular endothelial inflammation and BBB disruption by interacting with ZO1
Abstract Hypoxic–ischaemic (HI) brain damage is the main contributor to neonatal brain damage and neurodevelopmental impairments. The E3 ubiquitin ligase tripartite motif 47 (Trim47) plays pivotal roles in regulating inflammation, autophagy, and apoptosis in the pathological processes of various diseases. However, the role of Trim47 in neonatal HI brain injury remains unknown.
A bio-inspired customizable mechanical central pattern generator enables one-to-many scalable pneumatic control
Abstract As pneumatic robotics evolve toward high-degree-of-freedom arrays with multiple actuators, the conventional one-valve-one-actuator control paradigm inevitably leads to component redundancy and convoluted tubing layouts. To fundamentally reduce the controller’s quantity, here we propose a bioinspired customizable mechanical central pattern generator as an entirely electronics-free one-to-many scalable pneumatic control core.
Granzyme B-based CAR-T cells targeting membrane-bound HSP70 suppress solid tumor growth and metastasis
Abstract Utilizing CAR-T cells to eliminate circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and inhibit metastasis is a promising strategy. However, this approach is hindered by the lack of specific antigens. Membrane-bound HSP70 (mHSP70) is commonly expressed on the cell membrane of numerous tumor types, notably on CTCs, making it an ideal target for CAR-T therapy to treat these malignancies and prevent metastasis. Here, we generated CAR T cells based on natural ligand granzyme B (GrB-CAR T) targeting mHSP70.
Spliceosome induction is a druggable dependency of RAS-driven senescence and cancer
|
Abstract RAS family proteins, including HRAS, NRAS, and KRAS, are frequently mutated in cancer. Although there has been recent success in designing inhibitors that target oncogenic RAS, they elicit resistance and treating RAS-driven cancer remains difficult. Here, employing a proteomic analysis, we find that multiple spliceosome components are upregulated in the nuclei of cells undergoing RAS-induced senescence.

Abstract Land degradation (LD) poses a major challenge to global sustainable development, with the attainment of land degradation neutrality recognised as a key indicator of Sustainable Development Goal 15.3 (SDG 15.3). This goal focuses on combating desertification, restoring degraded land and soil, and including land affected by desertification, drought, and floods, with the aim of creating a land degradation-neutral world by 2030.
A cylindrical projection lithography-fabricated flexible on-catheter in situ integrated sensor for continuous in-artery blood pressure monitoring
Abstract Continuous and accurate blood pressure monitoring is vital for the diagnosis and management of life-threatening cardiovascular diseases. Conventional fluid-filled catheter systems are fundamentally constrained by distortion, infection risks, and limited portability. In parallel, Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) sensors assembled to catheters face miniaturization bottlenecks and packaging complexity.

A proof-of-concept machine learning model for short-term suicide risk stratification in depressed youth
Abstract Machine learning (ML) offers promise for suicide risk stratification in depressed youth, yet its clinical application remains methodologically challenging. Using prospective data from 602 Chinese patients aged 15–24 years collected between January 2022 and June 2023, we developed ML models to predict suicide attempts within 30 days after treatment. From 102 clinical and psychosocial predictors, only 30 suicide attempts (5.0%) were observed, resulting in a limited predictor-to-event ratio.
